What is Promood?
Promood is the independent representative body of the PhD candidates at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). We are officially registered at the 'Kamer van Koophandel' and act according to our bylaws. We signalize bureaucratic obstacles and general problems that PhD candidates face at our university by reporting them to the various university boards and by making them public if necessary. We work out solutions to these problems and stimulate the implementation. We do this at TU Delft level, while also staying in good contact with the other universities through our representation in the national PhD organization PNN (Promovendi Network Netherlands). Information flow is one of our core activities. Through digital ways we keep you up-to-date with the latest relevant PhD news through our monthly e-mail newsletter, the e-zine, and the Promood website. In conventional ways, we present you a couple of times per year our magazine 'Het Proefschrift', containing in-depth and background information relevant for your PhD. Furthermore, we regularly publish announcements and opinions in TU Delta, and last, but certainly not least, we bring you the famous Prologue, the information booklet containing all you need to know about doing a PhD at TU Delft. We also fulfill a social function, by organizing and assisting in organizing symposia, lunch lectures, printers markets and the yearly Delft Science Quiz. We encourage social activities amongst the PhD candidates, amongst others by organising the monthly PhD cafe. How is Promood organized? Promood represents its members for which it stands up. For this reason every signal or initiative from members is taken seriously. The board has the responsibility to guarantee continuity in the organisation. Moreover the board members keep watch over developments in the position of PhD candidates and interact with the university officials to professionalize this position, besides organising aforementioned activities. Easy communication between the board and the members is maintained by means of the local representatives at the faculties, the so called contact groups. |
